Description: A Guide to Human Factors and Ergonomics, Second Edition
CRC | 2005-12-16 | ISBN: 0415282489 | 408 pages | PDF | 5,6 MB
Completely revised and updated, A Guide to Human Factors and Ergonomics, Second Edition presents a comprehensive introduction to the field. Building on the foundation of the first edition, titled Guide to Ergonomics of Manufacturing, the new title reflects the expanded range of coverage and applicability of the techniques you will find in the second edition. Each and every chapter contains new material and some have been entirely rewritten. Drawing on the author’s experience in both teaching and industry, the book lays to rest the common myths and misconceptions that surround ergonomics.
Unlike most ergonomics and human factors books that emphasize the physical, this one gives a broad overview of cognitive as well as physical ergonomics. Written in an accessible style, it presents a systems approach to human factors and ergonomics that leads to complete understanding. The author demonstrates how to collect data on users and operators and how to convert the data to good design, and offers a practical guide to the design and analysis of systems. Design oriented, systems oriented, and results oriented, this text provides the tools needed to solve systems problems and develop adequate design solutions. [ ]

Berkshire Encyclopedia of Human-Computer Interaction (2 Volume Set)
Berkshire Publishing Group | ISBN: 0974309125 | 1000 pages | October 30, 2004 | PDF | 19 Mb
This encyclopedia, edited by the deputy director of the National Science Foundation's Division of Information and Intelligent Systems, compiles 186 articles on the maturing field of human-computer interaction (HCI). Topics cover applications (e.g., Classrooms, Law enforcement, Telecommuting), computer hardware (Keyboard, Liquid crystal displays, Mouse), fields of study (Ergonomics, Sociology and HCI), methods (Gesture recognition, Icons, Natural-language processing), societal issues (Cybersex, Workforce), and other subjects (Arpanet, Mosaic, Website design).
Article length averages 3-5 pages, with some longer articles, such as the 10-page History of HCI. Many entries are divided with boldface subheadings, enabling users to quickly identify main elements.
Names of article authors appear at the end of each article, usually followed by a list of see also references and a list of additional readings. Readings consist of books, articles, and Internet sites. Figures, tables, and photos are clear and aid understanding. Fifty-eight short sidebar entries provide added perspective within select articles. For example, the article Education in HCI includes a sidebar titled "A Personal Story--Bringing HCI into the 'Real World.'"
Both volumes include an alphabetical list of entries at the front and a set index in the back. Volume 1 also contains a list of sidebars and a list of all articles arranged under 10 general categories. The largest category, "Methods," has 35 articles. Appendixes include a combined list of further readings and an annotated list of HCI-related fiction and nonfiction books, works, films, TV and radio programs, and music. A glossary is also included but, at two pages, is perhaps too short.
This resource provides unique content not found in conventional encyclopedias on computers such as the Encyclopedia of Computer Science an [ ]

Description: William S. Helton, "Canine Ergonomics"
CRC Press | ISBN: 1420079913 | 2009 | 366 pages | PDF | 3,7 MB
Product Description
As with many new fields, the literature on working dogs is scattered across several non-overlapping disciplines from forensics and the life sciences to medicine, security, and wildlife biology. This book draws together related research from different fields into an interdisciplinary resource of science-based information. Providing a complete overview, from physiology to cognition, this is the first book to discuss working dogs from a scientific perspective. It covers a wide range of current and potential tasks, explores ergonomic and cognitive aspects of these tasks, and covers personality traits and behavioral assessments of working dogs.
From the Back Cover
Since Canis lupus familiaris first shared a fire with man more than 15,000 years ago, dogs have been trusted and valued coworkers. Yet the relatively new field of canine ergonomics is just beginning to unravel the secrets of this collaboration. As with many new fields, the literature on working dogs is scattered across several non-overlapping disciplines from forensics and the life sciences to medicine, security, and wildlife biology. Canine Ergonomics: The Science of Working Dogs draws together related research from different fields into an interdisciplinary resource of science-based information.
Providing a complete overview, from physiology to cognition, this is the first book to discuss working dogs from a scientific perspective. It covers a wide range of current and potential tasks, explores ergonomic and cognitive aspects of these tasks, and covers personality traits and behavioral assessments of working dogs. A quick look at the chapters, contributed by experts from across the globe and across the multidisciplinary spectrum, illustrates the breadth and depth of information available in this book.
Traditionally, information concerning working dogs is mostly hearsay, with the exchange of information informal at be [ ]

Description:
Color Solutions basICColor Display 4.1.9 | 41 MB
Color Solutions redefines Monitor Calibration and Profiling!
basICColor display 4 outperforms all previous versions
Ergonomics
The new User Interface is clean and easy to use. Predefined calibration and profiling settings allow for one-click-operation without restricting the user in his abilities to use individual settings. The professional user may select the parameters he wants and save them as additional settings. The wizard-like UI assists in doing so.
Functionality
basICColor display 4 holds an abundance of features unknown in any other monitor calibration software until now.
Besides the usual gamma settings, basICColor display allows using different gamma values. For video editing or working with Office applications, you can calibrate your monitor to the gradation of sRGB and thus use the same characteristics your data possesses. Of course you can use the meanwhile legendary L* calibration or even DICOM calibration for medical use.
You can set any monitor white point, you can measure the white point of other monitors. This allows you to calibrate multiple monitors to the same standards.
In addition you can set the black luminance or alternatively the contrast ratio in order to optimally adapt your monitor to the viewing conditions of your viewing booth.
The brand new ambient light measurement allows for compliance with viewing standards like ISO-3664 and 12646.
Quality
basICColor display 4 has a brand-new profiling engine built in. That´s how we achieved what seemed nearly impossible: even higher quality.
And the new profile validation with color gamut visualization proves and documents the superior quality of the profiles built with basICColor 4. [ ]
