The first academic year 1949/1950 started in the fall of that year. Over the next five decades the school has been developing gradually, although at times suffering under the (former) oppressive political system, which has attempted to impose dogmatic restrictions. After the revolutionary changes that have swept across Eastern and Central Europe in 1989, significant progress was achieved.
